About the event
Get ready for the ultimate spiritual cleanse! After enjoying a picnic kiddush lunch, Asian Jews and their loved ones will walk to the Japanese Gardens of Kenneth Hahn park. Using pebbles instead of bread (better for the birds), we will cast away the heaviness in souls into the beautiful lily ponds beneath the torii.
This experience is part of NuRoots’ Sweet Return festival. Discover the lineup at nuroots.org/sweetreturn.
When: Saturday, October 5 at 1-4pm PT
Where: Los Angeles - address and meeting spot will be emailed out
Who's invited? This event is open to Asian American Jews and their +1 guests. We define Asian American Jews as folks who identify as both Jewish (whether by heritage, religion, or culture) and Asian American. This can include mixed-race folks, transracial adoptees, Asian Jews by Choice, and more. We fully welcome those in the process of converting to Judaism. In addition, all ages are welcome at this event, however children under 18 must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian at all times. (Both parents are welcome to attend!)
Donate-what-you-can: In the spirit of keeping this event accessible, we are offering tickets on a donate-what-you-can model. Donations help to cover food and supplies, venue and insurance costs, and equitable compensation for our Asian Jewish organizers and staff. The true cost of attendance for this event is $50 per person. We invite you to pay what you can, to help us make this event a success!
Photography: Please note that photography will take place at this event and let us know if you have any questions.
