Jenni Rudolph
Co-Executive Director
Jenni Rudolph (she/her) is a Los Angeles-based musician and multimedia editor with a passion for authentic and underrepresented storytelling. She was raised on the periphery of multiple communities as a mixed race, secular Asian American Jew with Cantonese and Russian Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. She serves as Co-Executive Director of the LUNAR Collective, cultivating connection, belonging, and visibility for Asian American Jews. Jenni is a Berklee College of Music graduate, Pat Pattison Songwriting Award scholar, Songs 4 Social Change honoree, and Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project fellow. In her spare time, she enjoys solving escape rooms, designing murder mysteries, and attempting to fathom higher spatial dimensions.
Rabbi Mira Rivera
Rabbi in Residence
Rabbi Mira Rivera (she/siya/ella) is the first Filipina-American to be ordained at The Jewish Theological Seminary with an MA in Jewish Studies. She received a BFA in Film at New York University. Rabbi Mira brings compassionate and affirmative listening to her rabbinate as a Board Certified Chaplain with Neshama Association of Jewish Chaplains. Born in Michigan to Filipino immigrant parents, she moved to the Philippines as a child where she developed a love for the arts. Dance brought her back to New York where she danced for the Martha Graham Dance Company and Ensemble under the mentorship of Yuriko. When she is not at LUNAR Collective, she can be found leading monthly JOC-lifting Shabbat services at JCC Harlem in New York City.
Maryam Chishti
Co-Executive Director
Maryam Chishti (she/her) is a proud "Mus Jew", who works in the political/arts space in New York City, with a soft spot for work that intersects the two. She is interfaith, with an Indian/Muslim father and Jewish American mother who raised her in both religions and cultures. Maryam received a B.A. from Brandeis University in American Studies and Theater for Social Change. Outside of LUNAR, she runs a new Moishe House in New York City, and is passionate and excited to bring more Asian Jews into the growing community.
Rachel Chang
Ritual Director
Rachel Chang (she/her) is a Jewish musician, songleader, and educator, as well as a music therapist, living on Lenni Lenape land in Philadelphia, PA. Drawing from the many communities and identities that have shaped her, Rachel leads with expressive guitar, sensitive listening, and a deep intention to cultivate belonging. Her own journey has been profoundly impacted by finding Asian-Jewish community through LUNAR, and she’s excited to continue that journey as LUNAR’s Ritual Director. She is also the director of A Queer Nigun Project, which uses nigunim as a collective healing practice for LGBTQIA+ people, for Jews of Color, and for incarcerated people in Jewish community. As a queer and multiracial Chinese-American Jew, Rachel has spent years grappling with what it means to belong, to take up space, and to be heard in Jewish community, and she has found music to be an invaluable resource.

Ava Sayaka Rosen
Bay Area Community Leader
Ava Rosen is a multidisciplinary artist, poet, musician and educator living in Oakland on unceded Lisjan Ohlone land. She teaches art at Congregation Emanuel’s Youth and Family Education program, plays in local bands Healing Potpourri and Galore, and is a certified California Naturalist. Ava loves to surf and hike with her dog, and is currently creating an ecological tarot deck.
Gen Xia Ye Slosberg
LUNAR Co-Founder
Gen Xia Ye Slosberg (she/her) grew up in Guangzhou, China and Irvine, California. She is a policy researcher with accidental stints as a Jewish professional. She has worked in government and think tanks in Washington, DC on China trade and economic issues. Before returning to policy, she worked in program operations across the Bay Area Jewish community, and ran a Jews of Color youth program. She is a community thought leader on the experiences of Asian American Jews, and has been featured in The Forward, Hey Alma, and HuffPost. She received her B.A. in Political Science and Latin America Studies from UC Berkeley. She enjoys petting cute dogs, drinking fruity beverages, and watching reality TV shows. She is fluent in Mandarin, English, and Spanish.
Jared Chiang-Zeizel
Creative Producer and Editor
Jared Chiang-Zeizel (he/him) is an LA-based writer, editor, and lucid dreaming teacher. Growing up he never found himself fully part of any community — not quite Asian enough, not quite Jewish enough. A compulsive daydreamer, he often would dive into his imagination and explore fantastical worlds and stories. It wasn’t until after he graduated college that he realized that this pull towards fantasy stemmed from a life of otherism and a lack of community. Nowadays, he’s drawn to projects and ideas that feature mixed individuals and third culture kids. His work has been featured in outlets such as NPR, Vice, Gaia, NBC, Fox News, Men's Fitness, Brut, oprah.com, and Elle Magazine.
Maya Katz-Ali
Bay Area Community Leader
Maya was born and raised in a multicultural home (with an Indian/Muslim father and a Jewish/New Yorker mother) in Oakland, California where she learned about building community across global contexts and bringing people together from a young age. Maya graduated from Clark University with a B.A and M.A in international and local development. She currently works as the Bay Area field manager of OneTable, where she inspires young adults to create and explore their own Shabbat practice. She loves and deeply values participating in the LUNAR community as a speaker and community ambassador. At the core of Maya’s work she sees sharing stories, traditions, and values as central to our growth as a global community.
Bekkah 趙慧英 Scharf
Grants & Development Associate
Bekkah 趙慧英 Scharf is an environmental educator, lifelong learner, and creative who was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area (Ohlone lands). Her art and writing explores themes of food, nature, identity, and social justice. She is both Ashkenazi Jewish AND Chinese-American. Fun fact- Bekkah’s great-grandfather was a “paper son” (紙兒子), an undocumented immigrant from Toisan (台山), China.
Hannah Korentur
NYC Community Leader
Hannah Korentur (she/her) is a mixed Korean-Jewish who works at a tech company in the arts industry. She graduated from New College of Florida with a degree in biology, and used to work in the sciences. When she moved to NYC, she hoped to find a sense of community that wholly accepted her, and that's when she found the LUNAR Collective. She is passionate about the intersectionality of her cultures and wants to help provide a sense of community for others like herself. In her free time, she likes to paint, watch and make films, and also play her guitar and bass.
Jason Wong
Website Design Consultant
Jason Wong (he/him) is a mixed Cantonese-Ashkenazi American Jew who works as a Product Designer in the Bay Area. In collaboration with the LUNAR creative team, Jason imagined, designed, and built the LUNAR Collective website to launch their new web presence. He grew up in Orange County, CA as a Reconstructionist Jew and graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Jason participated in the first community virtual meet-up in 2020 when LUNAR was just a film project, and has been engaging in community events ever since.
Davi Cheng
Artistic Director + Graphic Artist
Davi Cheng (she/her) is a graphic designer in Los Angeles. Born in Hong Kong, Davi immigrated to the US with her family when she was fourteen. In addition to her rich Chinese heritage, Davi has embraced Judaism and is actively involved in her synagogue and the larger Jewish community. Davi’s artwork reflects the diverse aspects of her life and the unique perspective it has given her. She likes to combine traditional methods of drawing and painting by hand with advanced digital design techniques, and has created original Jewish art with a Chinese flair. Davi has served as the Executive Vice President at the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) Pacific Southwest Regional Board and she is the Past President of Temple Beth Chayim Chadashim (BCC), “House of New Life,” the original gay and lesbian synagogue.
Is Perlman
Communications Coordinator
Is Perlman (they/them) is a transgender, Asian-Jewish artist, poet, designer, and student based in New York. They are passionate about the intersections of LGBTQ+ advocacy, arts accessibility, and representation of people of color in Jewish spaces. Perlman works in these areas through organizations such as Keshet, Jews Against Marginalization, Culture Shock Miami, and The Alliance for GLBTQ Youth. In 2021, they were named a YoungArts winner in Visual Arts and Writing (Spoken Word). They work primarily in installation and performance art, exploring connections between transgender identity and Judaism. In their free time, they enjoy spending time with their family, doing karaoke, and hanging out with their English teachers. Perlman is an undergraduate student at Columbia University in the City of New York.
Maetal Gerson
LA & Chicago Community Leader
Maetal Gerson (She/her) is a Jewish transracial Chinese adoptee who got involved with LUNAR during the spring of 2021. She graduated from UChicago 21' with a degree in English and Music History and is currently finishing her year as an Avodah service corps member in Chicago. There, she is working as a community organizer at the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs. Her favorite LUNAR memories have been collaborating on the 2022 Asian Jewish Haggadah and co-hosting the virtual 2021 LUNAR Seder and 2022 LA LUNAR Seder. She looks forward to continue building the Asian Jewish community and to connecting with other Asian Jews in meaningful and joyful ways.
